Tempered Insulation Inc. was founded by Barbara J. Sweeney in 1987. That year Barbara fulfilled her wish to work for herself after many years in business dedicating her time and experience to others. Barbara’s husband, Art Sweeney, was an experienced Local #14 Union Insulator with an invaluable depth of knowledge and many connections in the industry. Highly regarded and respected, Barbara and Art understood that their combined resources and experiences made it a natural fit and path forward for Barbara to start a mechanical insulation company in the Philadelphia market. Over thirty-five years and three generations later, they were not wrong.
Tempered is a Philadelphia based WBE, WOSB, SBA-WOSB contractor with a level of experience and expertise unmatched in our industry. All of our insulators are skilled labor from the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers of Philadelphia Local #14. All members complete a five-year apprenticeship, and are Built-Rite and OSHA trained and Green Security Certified and TWIC Credentialed.
Tempered positions itself to always be part of the solution. From the planning stages, to job site conditions, to compliance with administrative tasks and deadlines, to proactively identifying potential issues in the field, we understand our role and position as a subcontractor. We conduct business with integrity, and because of that we align ourselves with contractors and clients who agree with our business model and reflect our own business culture. We at Tempered believe that trust, respect, and a willingness to collaborate with open and honest communication always produce the best results. We continue to deliver safe, high quality, and on-time projects for over three decades.
